Experience and Work

Mr. WALID METAWE the lawyer is a co-founder of W.M Legal Consultancy LLC. He graduated from the Faculty of Law, Ain Shams University. He began his career as a freelance lawyer in 2002, and became a legal consultant to many major companies in the Arab Republic of Egypt. During this period, he acquired and provided much of his experience to businesses, individuals and parties he dealt with. The following is a summary of those experiences and work:

 

 

Defense and advocacy in all criminal, civil, commercial, tax, personal status, administrative and state courts, expert hearings, sessions of dispute resolution committees, arbitration and international arbitration cases, as well as preparing all legal memoranda and taking all necessary action to enforce sentences.

 

 

Formulation of all types of contracts (contracts and basic regulations for companies in all legal forms and activities - sales and purchase contracts - lease contracts - financial leasing and real estate financing - agency and distribution contracts - oil and gas contracts - international construction contracts - BOT contracts (B. O. T) - Contracts for intellectual property rights, trademarks and patents - Electronic contracts and electronic commerce ... etc.).

 

 

The establishment and licensing of all types of companies of all legal forms and of varying types of activity, whether commercial, investment, or industrial. This also includes companies operating in the field of financial markets, and the establishment and licensing of all types of investment funds.

In the field of arbitration, Mr. WALID METAWE was a member of several regional and international arbitration centers, during which he acquired and provided many experiences. The following is a brief description of those experiences:

 

Arbitration of disputes related to financial markets. Arbitration of financial leasing and real estate financing. Arbitration of sales and purchase contracts.
Arbitration of agency contracts and distribution.
Arbitration of oil and gas contracts.
Arbitration of international construction contracts. Arbitration of bank disputes.
Arbitration in administrative disputes and BOT contracts (B. O. T).
Arbitration of disputes relating to intellectual property rights, trademarks and patents.
Arbitration in electronic contracts and electronic commerce - International Commercial Arbitration.

At the beginning of 2008, Mr. WALID METAWE joined the General Authority for Financial Supervision in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority (EFSA) is responsible for supervising and controlling non-bank financial markets and instruments, including capital markets, futures exchanges, insurance activities, real estate finance, leasing, as well as factoring and securitization. This is in order to achieve the safety and stability of these markets and instruments, and increase their competitiveness in attracting more domestic and foreign investments, as well as working to reduce the risks of non-coordination and addressing the problems that result from different methods or means of control.

 

During the work of Mr. WALID METAWE in The General Authority for Financial Supervision in the Arab Republic of Egypt, he had done many works and provided his expertise. The following includes an idea of those experiences and works:

 

Making proposals on amending the executive regulations of the Egyptian Capital Market Law.
Formulation of the statutes and contracts of listed companies and companies operating in the capital market, mechanisms, tools and systems.
Participating in the investigation committees and providing legal opinion regarding the violations of the financial market.
Preparation of legal and regulatory controls on the capital market.
Participation in the fourth exhibition and conference of investment in the stock exchange (Trend) as a lecturer in a lecture entitled «Safe Investment in the Stock Exchange» April 2009.

In 2009, MR. WALID METAWE moved to work in the UAE Securities and Commodities Authority.

 

The Securities and Commodities Authority in UAE is responsible for the regulatory, legislative and supervisory role of companies and securities listed on the financial markets, as well as those operating in commodity markets.

 

During Mr. WALID METAWE work in the Securities and Commodities Authority in UAE, he had gained and offered much of his expertise and work, and the following is an overview of those experiences and work:

 

Conducting a legal examination of the facts, complaints and violations related to the financial markets and commodities, including the hearing of statements. The preparation of legal notes and reports including legal analysis and accompanied by proposals for penalties, decisions and administrative procedures on the facts.
Representing the Authority before the police and judicial bodies in numerous communications and cases.
Mr. WALID METAWE was assigned to enter into several committees specialized in the investigation, inspection and the examination and monitoring of irregularities related to trading in financial markets, disclosure and information in circulation.
Participating in the preparation and amendment of some of the regulations and decisions issued by the Authority, and giving an opinion on some of the laws presented to the Authority.
Providing opinion in some legal consultations issued by the Authority.
Providing an opinion on the drafting of some of the agreements concluded between the Authority and external entities.

 

IMr. WALID METAWE trained some of the applicants to the Securities and Commodities Authority both inside and outside the country.

 

Mr. WALID METAWE obtained the status of judicial officer in crimes of financial markets from His Excellency the Minister of Justice of the United Arab Emirates during his tenure with the Securities and Commodities Authority.

 

Mr. WALID METAWE was also appointed as an expert in Securities by the Courts of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi - Ministry of Justice - United Arab Emirates.

 

Mr. WALID METAWE also obtained many certificates of appreciation and honors, the most recent of which was honored by His Excellency the Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates in 2017.
